Grossglockner High Alpine Road

This toll-road is an absolute “must-do” if you visit this region. The road climbs up from the valley floor & using a series of switchback curves carries you up to the glacier at the summit of the Grossglockner mountain, the highest in the region. En-route, you will pass more than a dozen view points & exhibitions (all included in the toll price) enabling you to learn more about the Hohe Tauern mountain range. Once at the top, you can walk on the glacier, visit the many exhibitions or try to spot the native marmots & ibex!

Kapun High Mountain Reservoirs   Kapun High Mountain Reservoirs

A combination of buses & europes largest open fenicular will transport you to the high mountains above Kaprun to visit the enormous dams which provide electric power for the region. The scenery is unforgettable & can be combined with a free tour inside the dam wall itself.

The Kitzsteinhorn Mountain   The Kitzsteinhorn Mountain

Just minutes away from the start point for the reservoirs is the base station of the Kitzsteinhorn cable car. A series of three cable car journeys will take you to the glacier at the top, where you can enjoy all-year round skiing & a host of fun activities including tobogganing & snow-biking (included in the entrance ticket). There is also a very reasonably priced restaurant with some of the best views going!

  Krimml Waterfalls

Austria’s largest waterfalls are located at the beginning of the Gerlos pass. The climb up is steep but very rewarding & there are cafes to relax in. Alternatively, a bus service will take you to the top.
