St Gilgen Heritage Museum  

St. Gilgen Heritage Museum

The Heritage of St. Gilgen on Lake Wolfgang is housed in the Wetzl also known as the Einsiedlerhausl. This was built in 1655 after the thirty years war when lace–making developed in St. Gilgen as a cottage industry. Besides Salzburg lace–making the main focus of the exhibition is on glass from the glass factory in St. Gilgen and the insects collected by Nobel prize-winner Prof. Karl von Frisch.
